Where Art Makes Culture
An organization fifteen years in the making, Nia Centre For The Arts is Canada’s first multidisciplinary Black arts facility. As they were preparing to open a brand new space in Toronto's historic Little Jamaica, they wanted to reintroduce themselves to the community in a monumental way that would establish itself as a top-tier art institution and be a beacon for creativity from the Black Diaspora.
Through a year-plus-long collaboration that consisted of developing a strategic and creative platform, producing a brand film, and doing a rebrand of their design system, we were able to give the Nia Centre the necessary tools to take up solidify its spot as the dedicated space where Black art lives and culture is created.
I developed the brand tagline and voice platform that reintroduced Nia as both an institution and an inspiration. Through messaging, creative direction, and cultural grounding, I helped position the Centre as a modern monument to Black creativity.
It wasn’t just about art. It was about anchoring a legacy.
